AIG Execs Spent 430000 Dollars at a Spa Resort After Bailout
Let's hear one example of a nation that's currently doing well with absolute laissez-faire economic policy (which implies not relying on any U.S. or European central-bank-issued fiat currency for liquidity)

Palin Abused Power but did Not Violate the Law
There are better reasons not to vote for McCain/Palin, and better ways to express it. The firing scandal is miniscule compared to her ignorant worldview, her backwards social policies, and her economic policies that primarily benefit the wealthy elite.

Keep hammering home the difference in their tax proposals. 99% of the population would pay less taxes under Obama than under McCain. The difference in their rates for the top bracket (people who make more than 2.5 million a year) was like 29%.

Speeding ticket, that's nothing. Watch what happens next!
If it was intentional, he would have had an escape plan.

AIG Execs Spent 430000 Dollars at a Spa Resort After Bailout
>> ^Mi1ler:
as long as that spa was in the United States they where just trying to pass forward the money they got to other Americans. See the way the economy works is you need currency to circulate that means spending money on goods and services. AIG was just trying to keep the economy rolling.

That's the broken window fallacy.
The money would be better spent in the hands of those who really need it.

Policeman Pepper Spray Teen For Short Change
With a little sleight of hand, swapping a twenty for a ten from her left pant pocket out of view of the security camera, then ringing it up as a ten, then transferring the twenty to some hiding place when she walked out of the room, there's no way they could catch her by auditing the cash register, looking at the security tapes, or strip-searching her. You can't be 100% sure that she wasn't short changing the cop. Penn and Teller could easily pull it off. The cop probably saw it as resisting arrest. Common sense: If you don't wanna get pepper-sprayed by a cop, don't be yelling "fuck da po-lice" and resisting arrest. He used excessive force, but it was totally predictable and avoidable on the part of the cashier.

Palin Explains Why Raped Women Should Be Forced ToBear child
>> ^quantumushroom:
We never should've given women the vote.

Representative governments have the benefit of preventing bloody wars of succession and, if you keep an eye on the past 500 years of history, almost always producing better policies than autocracies. If the 19th amendment were rejected, and subsequent attempts were rejected, there might have been a war over women's suffrage. That is why, as a selfish man, it is in your interest to support the 19th amendment. Also, if you ever want to get laid...

Palin Explains Why Raped Women Should Be Forced ToBear child
There's no dichotomy between good moral principles and whichever general principles would be in the best interest of almost everybody.

If the mother didn't want to have a child, chances are that she wouldn't take care of the child as well as someone who wanted to have a child, so children in general are better off if parents in general are allowed to abort.

The Beethoven fallacy applies equally well to arguing against abstinence (who knows what genius you might have created if you hadn't abstained from sex!), so it shouldn't be taken seriously.

A rational determination whether legalized early-abortion is moral should weigh the harm of early-abortion itself (zero except the placebo effect) against the benefits (freedom of women, less suffering of destitute unwanted children) and the harms of the opposite legislation (delayed abortions, back-alley coathanger abortions, more babies than we need, penalties against doctors and women) against the benefits of the opposite legislation (none, unless there's a shortage of babies).

So you thought your hands were clean? (Blog Entry by Doc_M)
I think sarcasm is overrated. People have come to expect sarcasm so much that they get lots of false positives, making it hard to have any kind of honest communication between people who disagree.
